Role and Responsibilities
Ivan Tu is Director, Risk Valuation and Reporting at Mobius Risk Group, where he supports clients across crude, refined products, natural gas, metals, and interest rates with a focus on valuation, reporting, and product control. He works with clients on the accuracy of cleared and bilateral commodity trade data, helping ensure that valuations, positions, and reporting outputs hold up under daily market movement and operational pressure.
His work centers on the points where trade data quality and risk reporting are most often. He supports daily valuation and P&L reporting, reconciles against FCM statements, validates forward curves and trade economics, and helps maintain position integrity across reporting, strategy, and confirmation workflows. He also leads validation and execution work around trade novation, including data rebuilds after portfolio migrations, counterparty changes, and booking issues. The goal is straightforward: get the valuation right, make reporting usable, and restore confidence in the underlying data when it matters most.
Ivan brings more than 18 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including over six years in upstream M&A and strategic investment and eight years in mid-office risk management spanning market and credit risk. That background shapes a practical, fact-based approach to exposure analysis, curve validation, analytical modeling across commodities, and quantitative data analysis. He also has extensive experience implementing and maintaining ETRM systems.
Prior Experience
Before joining Mobius four years ago, Tu held roles at Unipec as Senior Risk Analyst and at HHA in Strategic Business Development. He holds an M.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Southwest Petroleum University and an MBA from Troy University. He is a CFA Charterholder and a SAS Certified Advanced Programmer.
