About Paul Smith

Role and Responsibilities

Paul leads business development initiatives across the firm's commodity risk management, market intelligence, and technology solutions. He works closely with producers, consumers, utilities, marketers, investors, and trading organizations to help them identify opportunities to improve risk management, market analysis, and commercial decision-making processes.

Paul is focused on expanding client relationships, developing strategic partnerships, and helping organizations leverage Mobius's advisory expertise, data platforms, and market intelligence capabilities. He works across the firm's solutions to connect clients with the tools, analytics, and expertise needed to navigate increasingly complex energy and commodity markets.

Prior Experience

Before joining Mobius in 2003, Paul was with one of the world’s top 5 oil and natural gas producers, where he ran the North American financial derivatives trading desk. His previous experience includes structured product sales for a large Houston energy marketer. Before sales, he traded physical and financial gas for a large utility marketing company. He has experience in marketing and trading natural gas, electricity, crude oil, products, natural gas liquids, and LNG. Paul moved to Houston from Chicago, where he traded equities, options, and financial futures for a city-center hedge fund.
