Associate, Commodity Risk

About Ryan Decker

Role and Responsibilities

Ryan Decker is an Associate on Mobius Risk Group's Commodity Risk team, where he combines physical natural gas scheduling, project-based advisory, and applied technology development for clients across the energy value chain.

On the physical desk, Ryan manages day-ahead and intraday scheduling across 12 to 15 inter- and intrastate pipelines, balancing client positions in the Permian, Haynesville, Northeast, and Western basins. He also supports LPG marketing, working with brokers to identify FOB cargo opportunities and structure KYC onboarding for clients entering the market.

His advisory work concentrates on industrial and infrastructure clients evaluating long-tenor supply commitments — data centers sizing gas supply and transport for new builds, steel plants balancing molecule usage and transport efficiency, bitcoin mining operations sourcing supply, and E&P producers evaluating takeaway optionality. The work typically involves modeling available capacity, meter interconnects, transport pricing, and molecule sourcing to produce a full all-in cost picture before clients commit capital.

A recent engagement illustrates the approach: Ryan evaluated five-plus sourcing and transport scenarios for a large industrial client — analyzing project ramp timing, lateral buildout configurations, and molecule supply alternatives — to inform a multi-decade commitment. Because Mobius operates as an independent, unconflicted advisor, the analysis reflects the client's economics rather than a counterparty's incentive to close a deal.

In parallel, Ryan contributes to the firm's stablecoin initiative in partnership with Energy Substantiation, as well as applied AI work that builds in-house tools to improve execution and analytical efficiency for both the physical scheduling and financial desks — extending Mobius's System of Intelligence across commodity expertise and technology.
